I am looking for a free caller Id service for my computer. I have dial up that is all they offer in my area..
I take classes online so i have to be on the internet a lot. I want a free caller ID service that works with dial up and is FREE, not these for free for trials but free! It would be nice if i can find one that puts your modem on hold so when it lets you know someone is calling you can answer it if you like and all it will do is put your internet connection on hold…? Any help would be great!!
Unfortunately, caller ID requires that the phone company’s switch do things for you, and there is no other way to do it. This gives them a monopoly on that service, and they use that fact to price the service quite expensively. For your purposes, you need “call waiting” as well as caller ID. Back in the bad old days before DSL and cable, we had a dedicated phone line for internet access.
